They're the sartorial equivalent of walking barefoot across sharp gravel which will make everyone look alike however, my wife likes me in sandals. It's not because it's fashionable however, my wife admires my long feet. What's the point of taking a sensible shoe (with good grip, black wingtip boots decent design, and not prone to slipping under a bit of water) and completely eliminate that practicality by making it suede!
